Planning your first trip is simple. After signing in, click the "Plan a Trip" button on the dashboard. Describe your trip in plain language — for example, "5 days in Tokyo in April with a $3,000 budget for two people" — and our AI will generate a complete day-by-day itinerary including flights, hotels, activities, and restaurant recommendations. You can then edit any part of the plan, swap out suggestions, or ask the AI to adjust based on your feedback.

How does the AI trip planning work?

TripAI uses a local AI model combined with real travel data. When you describe your trip, the AI parses your intent (destination, dates, budget, interests) and then calls live travel APIs to fetch real flight prices, hotel availability, and activity listings. It then synthesizes all that real data into a coherent itinerary with a day-by-day narrative. The AI never invents prices or availability — everything comes from verified data sources.

Which destinations does TripAI support?

TripAI supports planning trips to thousands of destinations worldwide. Our flight search covers most major airports globally, and our hotel and activity data covers cities, beach resorts, national parks, and rural destinations across all continents. For very remote or niche destinations, data availability may be limited, and the AI will let you know if it cannot find sufficient information to build a complete itinerary.

Do I need to create an account to use TripAI?

Accepted Answer

You can explore the public template library and read destination guides without an account. However, to generate a personalized AI itinerary, save trips, share plans with others, or access your trip history, you will need to sign up for a free account. Registration takes less than a minute and only requires your email address.

Question 5

How long does it take to generate an itinerary?

Accepted Answer

Most itineraries are generated within 15 to 30 seconds. You will see a live progress indicator showing each step: searching flights, finding hotels, gathering activities, and building your plan. Longer trips or complex multi-city routes may take up to 60 seconds. The results stream to your screen in real time so you can start reading while the rest loads.

What information should I provide for the best results?

The more context you give, the better your itinerary will be. Useful details include: departure city, destination(s), travel dates or preferred month, total budget, number of travelers (and ages if children are involved), travel style (relaxed vs. packed schedule), specific interests (food, history, outdoor adventure, nightlife), and any mobility or dietary requirements. You can always refine the plan after generation.

Can TripAI plan multi-city or round-the-world trips?

Yes. Simply describe the cities you want to visit and the order you prefer, or let the AI suggest an optimal routing based on your interests and dates. For example: "3 weeks in Southeast Asia visiting Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hoi An, and Bali" will produce a connected multi-city plan with flights between each leg. For very complex itineraries with more than five cities, we recommend splitting into separate trip segments.

How do I edit my itinerary after it has been generated?

Every element of your itinerary is editable. Click on any day, activity, hotel, or flight segment to open an edit panel. You can swap items by clicking "Find alternatives", drag and drop activities to reorder them, delete items you do not want, or add entirely new items by clicking the "+" button in any day. Changes are saved automatically as you work.

Can I ask the AI to change specific parts of my trip?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Open the AI chat panel on your trip page and type a natural-language request. For example: "Find me a cheaper hotel in Shibuya", "Replace Day 3 activities with food-focused experiences", or "Add a day trip to Mount Fuji on Day 4". The AI will update only the relevant parts of your itinerary while preserving everything else.

How do I export my itinerary to PDF or calendar?

Accepted Answer

Open your trip and click the "Export" button in the top-right toolbar. You can export as a formatted PDF (ideal for printing), a JSON file (for importing into other tools), or directly to your calendar as individual events via an ICS file compatible with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, and Outlook. Hotel confirmations and flight details can also be included in the export.

Can multiple people collaborate on the same trip plan?

Yes. Open your trip settings and click "Invite Collaborators". You can add people by email address. Collaborators with Editor access can make changes, add comments, and vote on activities. Collaborators with Viewer access can see the plan and leave comments but cannot edit. All changes are synced in real time for all collaborators.

Question 12

Are the flight and hotel prices shown in real time?

Accepted Answer

Flight prices are fetched in real time from live airline pricing APIs and are accurate at the moment of search, typically valid for 15 minutes. Hotel rates are cached for up to one hour. Because prices change frequently, we always display the timestamp of when the price was last checked. We strongly recommend confirming the final price on the booking platform before purchasing.

Can I book flights and hotels directly through TripAI?

Currently TripAI provides links to book through partner platforms (airline websites, hotel booking sites). Direct in-app booking is on our roadmap. When you click "Book" on any flight or hotel, you are taken to the partner site with your search details pre-filled, making the booking process as smooth as possible.

How does the budget tracking work?

TripAI tracks estimated costs for every item in your itinerary: flights, hotels, activities, meals, and local transport. The budget dashboard shows a running total, a breakdown by category, and compares your plan against your stated budget. Estimated costs use the current pricing data; your actual spend will depend on final booking prices and on-the-ground decisions.

Does TripAI handle visa and travel requirement information?

TripAI displays general visa and entry requirement information based on your passport country and destination. This information is sourced from official government databases and updated regularly. However, visa rules change frequently and vary by individual circumstances. Always verify requirements directly with the embassy or consulate of your destination country before traveling.

How do I change my email address or password?

Accepted Answer

Go to Settings > Account. From there you can update your email address (you will receive a verification link at the new address) and change your password. For security, changing your email or password will send a confirmation notification to your current email address. If you did not make this change, contact support immediately.

Question 17

How do I delete my account and all my data?

Accepted Answer

Go to Settings > Account > Danger Zone and click "Delete Account". You will be asked to confirm by typing your email address. Once confirmed, your account and all associated trip data will be permanently deleted within 30 days in accordance with our data retention policy. This action cannot be undone. If you just want a break, consider deactivating your account instead, which preserves your data.

Can I set my home airport to avoid re-entering it each trip?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Go to Settings > Preferences and set your Home Airport. Once saved, all new trip searches will default to departing from this airport. You can always override it for individual trips. You can also set preferred cabin class, airline alliances, and hotel chains in your preferences to further personalize your results.

How does TripAI handle my personal data and privacy?

We collect only the data necessary to provide the service: your email, trip details you create, and usage analytics to improve the product. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Trip content you mark as private is not accessible to anyone else. You can download a full export of all your data at any time from Settings > Privacy > Download My Data.

What notification settings are available?

In Settings > Notifications you can configure email and (if enabled) push notifications for: price alerts when saved flights drop in price, trip reminders before departure dates, collaboration activity when others edit your shared trips, and weekly travel inspiration digests. Each type can be toggled independently.

Question 21

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

Accepted Answer

On the login page, click "Forgot password?" and enter your registered email address. You will receive a password reset link within a few minutes. The link expires after 1 hour for security reasons. If you do not receive the email, check your spam folder or contact support with your account email address.

Question 22

How do I share my trip plan with friends or family?

Accepted Answer

Open your trip and click the "Share" button in the toolbar. You can generate a shareable link that lets anyone view your itinerary without needing a TripAI account. You can also share directly to social platforms (Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp) or copy the link to paste anywhere. To give someone editing access, use the Collaborators feature in Trip Settings instead.

What is the difference between a public and a private trip?

Private trips (the default) are only visible to you and any collaborators you explicitly invite. Public trips are visible to anyone with the link and may also appear in TripAI's public explore feed where other users can discover and use them as inspiration. You can change a trip's visibility at any time in Trip Settings > Visibility.

Can I revoke a share link after sending it?

Yes. Go to Trip Settings > Sharing and click "Disable share link". This immediately invalidates the existing link — anyone who tries to open it will see a "trip not found" message. You can generate a new link at any time if you want to re-enable sharing. Collaborators with explicit invites are not affected by disabling the public link.

Question 25

Will people who view my shared trip see my personal details?

Accepted Answer

Shared trip views show the itinerary content (destinations, activities, hotels, restaurants) but do not expose your email address, account name, or any payment details. If you have added personal notes to activities, those notes are included in the shared view. You can strip personal notes from a share by exporting a "clean" version of the trip.

Can I embed my trip itinerary on a travel blog or website?

Currently TripAI supports sharing via link and social platforms. An embeddable widget for third-party websites is on our roadmap. In the meantime, you can export your itinerary as a PDF and embed that, or share a link to the public view of your trip.

Question 27

How does collaborative editing work in real time?

When multiple collaborators have a trip open at the same time, changes made by one person appear on everyone's screen within a few seconds. Each collaborator's cursor and current activity is highlighted. If two people edit the same item simultaneously, TripAI uses last-write-wins conflict resolution and shows a notification so everyone is aware of the change.

Is TripAI free to use?

TripAI offers a generous free tier that includes up to 5 AI-generated trip plans per month, full itinerary editing, PDF export, and sharing with up to 3 collaborators per trip. There is no credit card required for the free plan. Premium features (unlimited trips, priority AI processing, advanced collaboration, and more) are available on paid plans.

Question 31

How will billing and payments work?

When premium plans launch, billing will be monthly or annual (with a discount for annual). Payments will be processed securely via Stripe. We will accept major credit cards and PayPal. You will be able to manage your subscription, update payment details, and download invoices from Settings > Billing. We will never store your full card number — only a tokenized reference via Stripe.

Will there be a refund policy?

When paid plans are available, we will offer a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you are not satisfied within your first 14 days on a paid plan, contact support for a full refund with no questions asked. For renewals, refunds will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Annual plan refunds will be prorated for the remaining unused months.

I am a travel agent or business. Do you offer team plans?

Team and agency plans are on our roadmap. These will include centralized billing, a shared workspace for managing multiple client trips, white-label options, and bulk API access for integrating TripAI into your own tools.
