Plotting the route…
About
The story
In March 2025 I — Marco — spent the entire weekend planning a 5-day trip to Tokyo. Flights. Hotels. Neighborhood research. Restaurant reservations. A spreadsheet of activities per day. By Sunday night I had a plan. I also had a headache and a to-do list longer than when I started.
So I tried every AI assistant on the market to plan a similar trip to Paris. The results were worse: beautiful prose, hallucinated flight numbers, a hotel that had closed in 2019, a walking route that crossed the Seine six times.
Generic AI is a party trick. Travel needs something that actually books the flight.
TripAI is that something. It's an AI concierge that calls real travel APIs, verifies prices and availability, and hands you a booked itinerary — not a convincing essay. Explorer is free, so you can test that promise against anything else you've tried.
What happened
First prompt that actually booked a flight
Prototype in a weekend. Amadeus + OpenAI + a lot of prompt-tuning. 47% hallucination rate — but the 53% that worked felt like magic.
Real API integrations (Duffel, Booking, Viator)
Swapped synthetic data for live inventory. Hallucinations drop to 4%. Now the question is price freshness, not truth.
Alpha with 80 travelers
Invites to friends-of-friends. First honest feedback. "It planned my honeymoon in 3 minutes" became the measuring stick.
Multi-language launch — 9 locales
Italian, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, English. Because the traveler asking in Osaka deserves the same experience as the one in Brooklyn.
Group trips + shared wallets
Plan with friends. Vote on activities. Split expenses automatically. Because the hardest part of group travel was never the flights.
Public beta
Open signup. Free tier. Today, tripai.live.
Principles
Five rules we try not to break. When we do, it shows — so we rebuild the feature.
Every price, gate, address, and opening hour comes from a live API. If we can't verify it, we don't say it.
No push-to-win-back, no FOMO countdowns, no "7 people are viewing." Travel is personal; planning should feel that way.
We pick opinions over options. You can always ask for alternatives — the default is always the one we'd book ourselves.
Export, delete, portable. We never sell it, never train third-party models on it, never show ads.
When AI gets stuck, a real travel agent picks it up. Concierge tier guarantees a response in under an hour, 24/7.
Coverage
Our AI has planned real itineraries across 193 countries and 4,800+ cities. These are the six it's asked to plan most often.
The part where we ask you to try it
Explorer is free forever. Try planning a real trip you're actually considering and see what you get. If it saves you four hours — join us. If not, we'd genuinely like to hear why.
